Synopsis:

Lovejoy Fountain Park is a public open space in Portland, OR. The park was designed by Lawrence Halprin and finished in 1966. The terracing of the space and prominent fountain are an abstraction of the rugged landscapes of the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. Like many of Halprin's designs, the water in the park is accessible to the visitor to interact with in many ways. In fact, the entire park can be interpreted as an opportunity to take a mountain hike on a small scale, as one climbs over the entire site.
